We partner directly with artisan families in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Patan — bringing their centuries-old royal craft to modern feet. Each pair is a cruelty-free collaboration between heritage skill and regal design.

The Story
Vaanree began in 2020 when two designers — one a textile scholar, the other a shoemaker's daughter — met in a centuries-old workshop in Bhaktapur. They watched an 80-year-old Nepali artisan embroider velvet with a speed and precision that no machine could replicate.
They realised this royal craft was dying. Young artisans were leaving for factory jobs. The skills that took generations to develop were vanishing in a single one. Vaanree was founded to reverse that — to create a cruelty-free brand worthy of the craft, using only velvet, silk, and ethically sourced materials.
Today, Vaanree works with 28 artisan families across Nepal. Every shoe is handcrafted on velvet with intricate embroidery, and ships with the name of its maker. We don't call them workers. We call them what they are: artists.
